JULES VERNE"In spite of the opinions of certain narrow-minded people, who would shut up the human race upon this globe, as within some magic circle it must never outstep, we shall one day travel to the moon, the planets, and the stars, with the same facility, rapidity, and certainty as we now make the voyage from Liverpool to New York!"

ABOUT JULES VERNEJules Verne (1825-1908) was a French novelist and playwright who was ahead of his time, best known for his enthralling stories of adventure and sometimes credited as the originator of science fiction. He went to law school but followed his heart to pursue theater and literature. Verne and his wife loved sailing and travel, and that passion helped support his writing. His best known novels have been widely translated, and often altered, including Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1870), and the great travel book Around the World in Eighty Days (1873). These books have given him a modern reputation as a children’s books author, but he wrote over 60 books and dozens of plays and short stories. Verne is an important literary figure with innovative ideas on science that have inspired the world.

A5 RECOMMENDATIONS - JULES VERNE BOOKS
GREAT QUOTES FROM JULES VERNE"The sea is everything. It covers seven tenths of the terrestrial globe. Its breath is pure and healthy. It is an immense desert, where man is never lonely, for he feels life stirring on all sides. The sea is only the embodiment of a supernatural and wonderful existence. It is nothing but love and emotion; it is the ‘Living Infinite’."
- Jules Verne, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea Anything one man can imagine, other men can make real. - Jules Verne, Around the World in Eighty Days "We are of opinion that instead of letting books grow moldy behind an iron grating, far from the vulgar gaze, it is better to let them wear out by being read." - Jules Verne, Journey to the Center of the Earth INTERESTING LINKS:
