THE A5 BOOK REVIEWOx Travels is a wonderful collection of 25 original stories from some of the world’s best travel writers, published in aid of a charity called Oxfam. The central theme is the encounter, the life-changing human interaction experienced when travelling that authentically brings a new place to life. Some of the essays share moments of humor, curiosity and entertainment, while others go much deeper with stories of fear, wonder, and falling in love. Quite simply, Ox Travels is a good book that supports a good cause. Contributors include Michael Palin (who wrote the introduction), Paul Theroux, Sara Wheeler, William Dalrymple, Patrick Leigh Fermor, Rory Stewart, Jan Morris, and Tim Butcher, among others.

GREAT QUOTES FROM OX TRAVELS"Gathered here, for the benefit of Oxfam and its work, are a series of vivid accounts of people and places which not only show the wonder of the world but also the wealth of fine travel writers working today. The theme behind each contribution is, quite loosely, meetings, or to put it more poetically, encounters."
