THE A5 BOOK REVIEWThe Adventures of Tintin is a series of 24 comic books that first appeared in 1929, written by a Belgian artist named Hergé and starring a young Belgian reporter named Tintin. He and his faithful Wire Fox Terrier inevitably and continually find themselves involved in dangerous adventures that require their heroic intervention to save the day. Tintin as a character is interesting, both a normal boy with Boy Scout ideals but also, as described on the official website as a “hero that everyone wishes to become, or at least the friend that everyone would like to have.” Their travels take them all over the world, both to lands real and fictional, even including a trip to the moon. The series was one of the most popular comics of the 20th century, translated to over 70 countries, celebrated by literary critics, and still enjoyed by children today. The Adventures of Tintin has been adapted into television, radio, theater, video games and several films.
