THE A5 BOOK REVIEWA Wolverine is Eating My Leg is the second collection of stories from adventure travel writer Tim Cahill, following Jaguars Ripped My Flesh. This book is just as good as the first, and there was no let down in his quest to travel the world to find challenge and danger, laughing at himself along the way. His travels range from an excellent story on his trip to Rwanda to visit the mountain gorillas at Dian Fossey’s research facility (despite her denying him permission to go) to the appalling scene of mass suicide in Jonestown, Guyana, to a funny story of ice fishing in Wisconsin. He faces a wide range of fears, including snakes (venomous sea snakes to be specific), the heat of Death Valley, falling in the dark (vertical caving), whitewater rafting, and extreme skiing. As always, we enjoy Cahill’s self-deprecating humor and compelling writing, and this is one of his better books.

GREAT QUOTES FROM A WOLVERINE IS EATING MY LEG"The following stores, I see, span a sixteen-year period. Re-reading all these pieces - especially the less recent efforts - was like encountering good friends, old army buddies, for instance, after many years. I had a sense that it might be fun to take a few of these stories out for a drink, bring them home to dinner."
